Position Overview
The Senior Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing communication strategies that align with Amazon's business objectives. Your primary focus will be internal and external communications, public relations activities, and crisis management. You’ll collaborate with various departments to ensure clear, consistent messaging across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies and plans
- Craft clear and compelling messaging for press releases, internal communications, and marketing materials
- Manage media relations, including preparing executives for interviews and handling inquiries from the press
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and industry trends to better inform communications efforts
- Work closely with senior leadership to guide communications during crises or sensitive situations
- Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align communication efforts with company goals
- Organize and oversee internal communication initiatives to foster a strong company culture
- Assist in the development of content for social media channels and the company blog
- Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies and provide insights for improvement
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or corporate communications
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of media relations and crisis communication strategies
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Ability to think strategically and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with social media platforms is a plus
- Highly organized with a keen attention to detail
